Viennale to screen Iranian ‘Bodyguard’

The 2017 edition of the Vienna International Film Festival (Viennale) is to screen Iranian movie ‘Bodyguard’ directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia.

The movie is selected to vie at the competition section of the Austrian event on July 4 in Vienna.

'Bodyguard’ has so far been shown in a number of countries, including Germany, Canada, Australia, Britain, Lebanon, Syria and Afghanistan.

Prominent Iranian filmmaker Hatamikia’s ‘Bodyguard’ depicts idealism in the new era. It narrates the story of a middle-aged man protecting high-profile political figures.

Starring Parviz Parastoui, Merila Zarei, Mahmoud Azizi, Amir Aqaei, Farhad Qaemian,and Babak Hamidian, the movie won four awards at the 34th edition of the Fajr Film Festival; namely, the Best Actor in a Leading Role, the Best Visual Effects, the Best Director and the Best Picture.

Viennale is considered as Austria’s most important international film event and one of the oldest prestigious festivals in the German-speaking world.

Launched in 1960, it is a film festival taking place every October in Vienna, Austria.

Gala screenings, special events and parties are as much part of the festival as interviews, audience discussions and opportunities to meet the many international guests of the festival.

The 55th edition of Viennale is slated for October 19 to November 2, 2017.
